Ground Improvement systems have long been recognised as a cost effective way of densifying weak soil and reducing potential settlements. Treatment systems include Dynamic Compaction for large sites with obstructions and Vibro Stone Columns for urban areas. In single grain sized sands, commonly found in hydraulic fills, predicted settlements can be drastically reduced by treating the fill with high powered depth vibrators.
